A woman and her young son were killed in a fall at Petco Park in San Diego, California before a Major League Baseball game from unknown causes, investigators said Sunday.
San Diego Police Department spokeswoman Andra Brown explained that the deaths occurred shortly before the start of Saturday’s game between the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves.
The 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old son fell from the stadium’s third floor onto the street, where they died after agents tried to resuscitate them.
“They were in a concession / dining area on the concourse level before the crash,” Brown explained.
The spokeswoman noted that the causes of the incident are still being investigated and, “as a precaution, the San Diego Police Homicide Unit was called to the scene.”
Local media reported that the boy’s father was also at the stadium when the deaths occurred. AFP (HN)
