17-year-old American Erriyon Knighton ran the 200m at 20.11 on Monday night in Jacksonville, Florida, taking the unofficial world record for the U-18 category, which belonged to sprint legend Usain Bolt.
With his time of 20.11 (+1.6 m / s), Knighton surpassed the 20.13 (no wind) made by the Jamaican Usain Bolt in July 2003, a month before celebrating his 17 years.
Knighton, born in January 2004, has a mark of 10.16 in 100 meters (he has even run in 9.99 with too favorable wind) and another of 47.48 in 400 meters.
At the same meeting, American world champion Grant Holloway won the 110-meter hurdles event with a time of 13.10, ahead of his compatriot Devon Allen (13.22). (GG) (AFP)
