AC Milan filed complaint about racism from Lazio fans

The Milan club filed a complaint with the Italian Football Federation prosecutor’s office on Friday over the racist chants of Lazio fans during last weekend’s victory over the Roman team.

Frenchman Tiémoué Bakayoko said derogatory chants from Lazio fans were directed towards him and fellow Ivorian teammate Franck Kessié, both black Milan midfielders.

“For some Lazio fans and their racist yelling at me and my brother (Kessie). We are strong and we are proud of the color of our skin. I am confident that our club will identify them, ”wrote Bakayoko on Instagram after the match.

Lazio has been sanctioned many times with vetoes to the stadium and financial fines for racist acts by his supporters.

“It is our moral responsibility to report any form of discrimination that involves our club,” said Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis. “We want to once again confirm our commitment to avoid such attitudes in the future, collaborating with other teams and institutions to achieve a common goal. Soccer must come together to protect our players in a determined and uncompromising way.

“Intolerance is not a problem created by football, but it is undoubtedly reflected in football. For this reason, we will continue in our effort to generate changes in football and we will launch other initiatives in the coming days, ”added Gazidis.

Milan beat Lazio 2-0 on Sunday to extend their perfect start to Serie A.
