After more than a year of absence due to injury, Bernat enters the PSG call-up

Spanish defender Juan Bernat, recovered from a serious knee injury, returns to the Paris SG group after more than a year of absence, for the Ligue 1 match against Angers, his club announced.

The 28-year-old left-back progressively reintegrated the group sessions in recent weeks, after having torn a cruciate ligament in his left knee against Metz, on September 16, 2020.

His return is good news for coach Mauricio Pochettino, who has put him in competition this season with young Portuguese Nuno Mendes.

Bernat has scored six goals for PSG since his arrival in 2018, five of them in the Champions League.

The Parisian club will not be able to count on Angers with its South American internationals, who played their World Cup-2022 qualifying matches on Thursday.

In this way, the Argentineans Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria and Leandro Paredes will not be against Angers, nor the Brazilians Neymar and Marquinhos.

Also absent from the list of 22 called up, the Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, injured on Wednesday in an adductor with his national team.

The Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma will therefore be the starting goalkeeper against SCO Angers, in an eleven that must include Kylian Mbappé, Mauro Icardi and Marco Verratti.

Wing defender Layvin Kurzawa, who has not played a minute in Ligue 1 this season, has not been called up.
