Alonso ready to close the campaign “on a good note”

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (McLaren) faces the Abu Dhabi GP, the last round of the Formula One World Championship, with the aim of closing the season “on a good note” on a circuit “more complicated” for them than that of Brazil.

“Another season is coming to an end and Abu Dhabi is a fantastic circuit to bring up the curtain. There is a unique atmosphere. It gives the feeling that the year has flown by, but there is also a feeling of the end and the entire team, which has worked so hard all year, is looking forward to the winter break, “says the Asturian pilot in a team statement.

Alonso emphasizes that “the whole team wants to do well in the last race of the season, and it is usually a fun race because everyone wants to finish on a good note”.

«Yas Marina is more complicated for us than Brazil. We had an unexpected good result in Interlagos, but we anticipate a bigger challenge in Abu Dhabi. The entire team wants to finish in style, so we are working hard to extract all the remaining performance from the MCL32, ”he explained.

For Alonso, “qualifying is crucial on this track because it is not easy to overtake, so it is important to get the set-up right as soon as possible during the weekend.”

“Racing at this circuit is a very special way to end the season. Driving at sunset and then at night, in continually changing conditions, is interesting for the drivers, and I’m sure this year’s cars will be a lot of fun to drive on this track. I’m looking forward to it and I hope we can finish the season with a good result to reward the efforts of the whole team this year, ”he concluded. EFE
