Announce date of the European playoff draw for Qatar 2022

The draw for the playoffs that will qualify three European teams for the Qatar World Cup will take place on November 26 in Zurich, FIFA reported on Thursday.

Twelve teams will participate in a “playoff” that will decide who will accompany the ten group winners of the European qualifying round. Germany and Denmark have already secured their presence in Qatar next year.

The draw will be run by the runners-up from the ten qualifying groups plus two UEFA Nations League group winners who did not finish first in their qualifying groups.

It is possible for a team that finished third or lower in the qualifying phase to advance to the World Cup through a back door, the Nations League. Austria, the Czech Republic and Wales could have a chance.

The 12 teams will be divided into three groups of four and will meet from March 24 to 29. On the first date there will be two matches per group, the winners of which will then be measured for a ticket to Qatar. (AP)
