Antonio Margarito receives medical authorization to return to the ring

Former Mexican world champion Antonio Margarito received medical authorization to return to the ring today after he was discharged this day after a medical evaluation that assured he has no right eye injury, reported the World Boxing Council (WBC).
After four years of retirement, Margarito will return to boxing on March 5 in Mexico City in a combat in which he will face his compatriot Jorge Páez Jr. in a 10-round super welterweight bout.
The WBC indicated that the Mexico City Boxing Commission and the company Promociones Zanfer, which organizes the fight, complied with the medical rules imposed “in order to guarantee the physical integrity of the boxer.”
Margarito, who last fought on December 3, 2011 against Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, underwent a process of recovery and medical supervision like the one that allowed the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard to return to boxing in the 1980s.
The boxer, about to turn 38 years old, underwent an ophthalmological examination in which his visual condition was assessed before doctors in this capital.
I’m ready to go back after four years. I have no financial problems, I want my children to see me fight, to know who their father is, “said Margarito in the presentation of the fight.
Margarito has a service record of 38 wins, 27 on the fast track and eight losses.
