Argentino Castaño retains his interim super welterweight title in France

Argentine Brian Castaño beat Franco-Ivorian Michel Soro on points in Evian (France), thereby maintaining his interim super welterweight title from the World Boxing Association (WBA).

At the end of a very tough and harsh fight, Castaño, who now has 14 victories in as many fights, was declared the winner by Thursday’s decision. Two of them gave him the winner (115-113, 115-113), while one opted for his rival (112-116).

“Michel hits very well, so I had to pressure him from the beginning, also trying to keep my distance,” the 27-year-old Argentine explained to the French television channel Canal Plus.

Michel Soro (29 years old) suffered his second defeat, in a record where he also has 30 victories and one null.
