Alabama police issued an arrest warrant for Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins on a misdemeanor count of domestic violence bullying.
The Mobile Municipal Court website indicates that the arrest warrant was issued for this crime, but does not offer further details.
The TMZ channel released an audio Tuesday in which, it said, Cousins threatened to shoot Christy West, with whom he has a seven-year-old son.
Lakers spokeswoman Alison Bogli said Thursday that the team had no further comment at this time other than the statement released Tuesday after learning of the audio.
“We take this complaint very seriously,” the Lakers said Tuesday, when they said they were gathering information about what happened.
Cousins, 29, married another woman last weekend in Atlanta.
The center signed with the Lakers in July as a free agent, but suffered a knee injury a few days ago during training. He will have to undergo knee surgery that could lock him out for the entire season. AFP
