The Puerto Rican boxer McJoe Arroyo won the world junior bantamweight title, vacant by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), by technical decision in 10 rounds against the Filipino Arturo Villanueva, in the fight played at the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas).
Referee Rafael Ramos stopped the fight at 2:05 minutes in the tenth round after the doctor responsible for the fight made the recommendation since Villanueva had a deep and dangerous cut over his right eye.
In an accidental head butt, Villanueva injured his right eye in the sixth round, which ultimately led him to lose the fight.

Arroyo leaves his mark at 17-0, with eight knockouts, and wins the crown left vacant by South African Zolani Tete, who did not want to accept $ 75,000 to face Arroyo in defense of the crown.
