French international Antoine Griezmann, who once again wore the Atlético de Madrid shirt, assured that the Madrid team is “the best place for me to be happy.”
“I wanted to come back yes or yes, I think this is the best place for me to be happy on and off the pitch,” said Griezmann in a statement to the rojiblanco club’s media.
The Frenchman joined Atlético on Wednesday after his surprise loan from Barcelona on the last market day on August 31.
Griezmann’s loan is for one year but with another optional year. The agreement includes a purchase obligation at the end of the second season, estimated at 40 million euros according to the Spanish media.
Griezmann, who had left Atlético on his way to Barça in 2019, returns assuring that “every game I will give everything for the great effort they have made for me so that I can return.”
The Frenchman assured that he “really wanted to be a mattress again, the most beautiful thing that has happened to me in recent years.”
Griezmann has winked at the fans for the rojiblanca, assuring that “I will leave everything as it has always been my style of playing on the field.”
“I’m going to give everything for them, who are in the stands or in front of the TV, they are going to have a player who is going to leave everything behind and who is going to do everything possible to make them proud of him,” added the Frenchman.
“Hopefully together we can enjoy magical afternoons and nights, that’s my main goal because I think we had a beautiful relationship between the fan and I that I want to have again,” insisted Griezmann.
“That happens for me, more than words are the acts and show that I am here again to leave it and enjoy all together again,” said the Frenchman, who in the morning had received from the hands of President Enrique Cerezo, the red-and-white shirt with the number 8 he will wear.
