Australian Ashleigh Barty remains at the top of women’s tennis

Australian Ashleigh Barty, elected WTA Player of the Year 2019, remains at the top of women’s tennis, leading the ranking for the 19th consecutive week, as reported by that organization on Monday.

Barty, winner of the 2019 Roland Garros Open, remains at the top of the podium in women’s tennis despite falling last Thursday in the first round at the Brisbane tournament.

Barty is the first Australian to top the women’s rankings since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1976.

They are followed in the world ranking by Czech Karolina Pliskova and Japanese Naomi Osaka, in that order.

Canadian Bianca Andreescu, winner of the US Open, remained in the sixth step.

For her part, the Spanish-Venezuelan Garbiñe Muguruza rose a position from 35 to 34 and the also Spanish Carla Suárez Navarro remained at 54.

American Serena Williams remains in the Top-10 by occupying the ninth place.

Among the Latin American women, the Puerto Rican Mónica Puig, Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro-2016, rose from 78 to 77.
