Baldomir of health risk due to fight in Yucatan

The World Boxing Council (WBC) today described the fight that he will play this Friday with Russian Andrey Meryasev in the metropolitan area of Merida, southeast of Mexico, as “high risk” for Argentine Carlos Baldomir.
INTERBaldomir “does not have permission from the Argentine Federation and lacks medical exams,” said the Council in a statement in which he made public his objections to the fight, considering that it involves risks to the health of the fighter.
The fight between Meryasev and Baldomir will be played in the middleweight category without any title involved, under the endorsement of a local boxing commission with no relation to the governing bodies of this sport, the WBC noted.
The entity questioned the permission of the “World Pugilism Commission” and said that the boxing commission of Kanasin (Yucatan) that has endorsed the fight “does not take care of the minimum security aspects in boxing.”
Baldomir, who has not fought for 17 months, since his loss to Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio, has 70 fights with 49 wins (15 KO) with 15 losses (3 KO) and one invalid; and Meryesev is undefeated in 15 fights. EFE.
