The BBC today announced that British Formula One commentator Eddie Jordan and German driver Sabine Schmitz are the latest additions to present, starting next May, the new season of the hit motor series ‘Top Gear’.
Thus, the founder of the team Jordan and Schmitz, along with the journalist Chris Harris and the television presenter expert in cars and technology Rory Reid, will be joined by Chris Evans, ‘The Stig’ and the American actor Matt LeBlanc.
“I am tremendously excited and looking forward to joining the team led by Chris. I have great respect for my fellow presenters and ask them to be careful with the older ones, ”said 67-year-old Jordan.
“Cars are in my DNA and, although I have been fortunate to achieve many things that I never thought I would achieve in motorsport, introducing ‘Top Gear’ is certainly the icing on the cake,” said the ex-driver.
Without the famous Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, who left the BBC last year and will launch their own motor show on Amazon Prime, “Top Gear”, which returns on May 8 on BBC Two, it will count in its new season with a main presenter -Evans- and a team of six reporters.
“The opportunity to combine driving and presenting was something I couldn’t pass up. I’ve been on the show a few times in the past and I’m convinced it’s going to be a lot of fun, “said Schmitz, who will become the first woman to host the show in the past 15 years.
On February 4, the British public network announced that LeBlanc, famous for playing the likeable Joey Tribbiani in the hit series “Friends”, would be one of the presenters in the new season of “Top Gear”, which has an audience of more than 350 million viewers worldwide.
The relief of the presenters in the series came after the BBC’s decision not to renew Clarkson’s contract after he assaulted a producer last March. EFE
