Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts joined an exclusive club with his sixth three-homer game Thursday against the Padres. Betts tied Johnny Mize and Sammy Sosa for the most games with three homers in major league history.
Betts was tied with Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire, Dave Kingman, Puerto Rican Carlos Delgado and Joe Carter.
The right-hander gave the Dodgers a 5-2 lead with his first homer of the night, a two-run hit in the second inning off Chris Paddack. Two innings later, he hit another home run to seal his 17th career multi-homer game and his first as a member of the Dodgers.
Betts made history with his third home run of the night, a two-dash homer off Luis Perdomo in the fifth inning that put the game 11-2 in Los Angeles’ favor. (GG) (TAKEN MLB.COM)
