The Croatian tennis player Borna Coric, erased the Spanish Rafael Nadal from the court today and eliminated him in the third round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 by a resounding 6-1 and 6-3.
In his second game after his participation in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, the Balearic, third favorite, was overwhelmed from the beginning by his young rival, number 49 in the ATP ranking.
Coric swept a first set in which he was only below at the start (1-0), since from then on he added six games in a row against an opponent who made numerous errors and gave up three consecutive services, which allowed him take the Croatian’s sleeve 6-1.
Something similar happened at the beginning of the second set. Coric continued to take advantage of the inaccuracies of a Nadal who had to be treated on the track for problems in his left elbow, and quickly went 4-0.
A claw start from the Balearic Islands allowed him to add two games in a row for the first time in the match (4-2), although the Croatian knew how to maintain his advantage and, although the clash was balanced somewhat in that phase of the game, he ended up sealing the match with a 6-3 in 72 minutes.
In the next phase of the US tournament, Coric will face the winner of the Berdych-Cilic in the quarterfinals. EFE
