Boxer confessed that now she “fights for her daughter”

Life totally changed me, I had to lower 5,000 revolutions and stop thinking only of myself “. Yésica Bopp is much more than an athlete (or a boxer) and that is why, when asked about how she lived these two years without getting into a ring, she appealed to a sincere and deep phrase to reflect what she internalized since she found out that she was pregnant 21 months ago.
“It was quite a process. I was very active, independent, I went from here to there, and I had to stop being selfish and understand that I had a life inside of me and that it depended on me. Ariadna was the best thing that happened to me in life, but I had to adapt… ”, the boxer confessed to Tycsports.com, that this Friday she will fight again at the Gatica Gymnasium of Villa Domínico (Miter at 5000, in Avellaneda) against Vanesa Taborda. It will be a unique evening because Bopp’s husband, Alejandro Silva, will make his professional debut.
“It will be a special night because the three of us will be there, us on top of the ring and she watching from below. And this whole process was the same, three by three, we training together and she without letting us sleep, “he says while a laugh escapes him. She is 31, he is 22. “They call him the Raven, he is super welterweight, fast and has a good hand for his 69 kilos”, she sells it, who has only one defeat in 28 fights and will face a girl with five in 16 (8-5-3) in an eight round bout. “It is a difficult rival to return to. He made international fights and although he lost them, few were by knockout. I aspire to finish the fight before the limit, but I don’t push myself ”, she analyzes.
La Tuti speaks as she gazes devoutly at her one-year-old baby. “Before, my motivation was to be the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Today I think more about securing its future. Now I fight for my daughter ”, he admits. He assures that he is already in weight and in the same rhythm as before, although, it is known, the truth will be seen above the ring. “I’ve been sparring with men and although I felt the typical suffocation, I think I’m going to come back very well. My goal is to be in the world spotlight again and to be able to fight with the best ”, reports who in 2014 was able to win two mini fly titles (WBA) and another fly title (WBO) to become one of the best five pound boxers by pound of the world.
-What was the best and worst thing about leaving your career for two years and, at the same time, being a mother?
-The best thing is having met my daughter and the worst, never sleeping again (laughs). Sleeping cut off complicates a lot for an athlete. I have not noticed muscle fatigue and I feel very good, but I realize that it is not the same …
-How were these two years without boxing?
-I took the opportunity to do other things, such as organizing boxing evenings, finishing my career as a Social Psychologist and getting fully involved in something that I really like, such as community aid.
-And how did you do everything?
-I’m very dusty, imagine that I trained until the seventh month of pregnancy (laughs)… I was already studying the degree and I finished it after being a mother. My niece went with me to the Higher School in Flores and took care of Ariadna. I would go out at recess and give him the tit. And in solidarity I got involved with Weber Saint Gobain, a company that is my sponsor but that also privileges me by helping me to help. He gave me the materials and we greatly improved two boxing schools, one in La Plata and the other in Concordia. In the future I would like to have my own foundation.
-It is clear that your idea is to be more than a boxer.
-I prepare for that because I know that I will not box all my life. The race is short and I do not want that, when I retire, I do not know what to do and have that void that many fill with addictions.
-And how did Social Psychology help you in boxing, or in your life?
-This career gave me the tools to see what obstacles the boxer faces and it also serves to discover the gift that each one has. I love learning about group management and it would be good to apply it to sports, with teenagers, especially the most humble ones, to advise them and change their habits.
