Danish Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite will undergo surgery on his left knee in the coming days, which could keep him off the pitch for several months.
Braithwaite “has a patellofemoral injury in his left knee, which has not responded to conservative treatment,” the Barça club reported on Monday.
“The Danish player will undergo surgery in the coming days,” added Barça, without giving further details.
The Barcelona team also does not detail the possible duration of the loss, but, according to the Spanish media, it could be between three and four months off the pitch.
The Danish forward has played in the three league games that Barça has played this season, scoring a double and giving an assist in the first match of the championship against Real Sociedad.
Braithwaite thus misses his team’s Champions League debut on Tuesday against Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou. AFP (HN)
