Britain’s Johathan Rea (Kawasaki) signs the double at Phillip Island

The British Johathan Rea (Kawasaki), current Superbike world champion, signed a double in the first round of the season held at the Australian circuit of Phillip Island, by winning this Sunday in race 2.
Rea thus adds the first double on the Australian track since the one achieved by Carlos Checa in 2011.
Race 2, 22 laps, was led by Tom Sykes (KRT) followed by Rea, Michael Van der Mark (Honda), Chaz Davies (Ducati), Nicky Hayden (Honda) and Davide Giugliano (Ducati), in the following positions and with Sylvain Guintoli (Yamaha) leading a second group, but just over 2 seconds away.
The battle for the places of honor were prematurely dismounted by the British Yamaha, Alex Lowes, stopped by a mechanical problem that relegated him to the tail of the peloton, and his compatriot Leon Camier (MV Agusta), forced to undertake the path of the boxes to be betrayed by his motorcycle.
