Forward Édinson Cavani was vaccinated against covid-19 in Uruguay, where he arrived to join the training sessions with Celeste for the 2021 Copa América in Brazil.
“I wanted to tell you that today I was vaccinated against covid,” said the Manchester United striker in a video uploaded to his social networks, after receiving the first dose of the Coronavac vaccine, from the Chinese laboratory Sinovac.
“I wanted to thank all the health personnel of my country for this possibility and for all the effort they are making in this battle, which is very difficult, but we will fight so that everything can return to normal,” added the scorer of the Uruguayan team.

He also exhorted the population and in particular young people to get immunized. “Let us be aware and know that this can be something very important for this advance, to return to what we want to give each other a hug, to share things together and others,” he said.
Cavani benefited from one of the 50,000 doses that Sinovac donated to Conmebol to inoculate players, coaching staff and collaborators from schools in the ten countries that make up the governing organization of South American football.
The forward arrived in Uruguay to play the Copa América that begins on June 13, but will not participate in the double playoff date in which La Celeste will face Paraguay and Venezuela as he must serve two suspension matches. AFP (HN)
