Chile thrashes Venezuela and climbs in the tie

Chile defeated bottom Venezuela 3-0 in Santiago, on the twelfth date of the South American qualifier for the World Cup in Qatar-2022, and climbed to sixth place in the table, three points from fifth place that gives way to the play-off.

La Roja’s goals were scored by midfielder Erick Pulgar (18 and 37 minutes) and Anglo-Chilean striker Ben Brereton (73).

Chile added the second consecutive victory in four days after beating Paraguay 2-0 last Sunday, both after the return of the public to the stadiums, and is now sixth with 13 points, three of the fifth place that Uruguay has and that it offers a ticket for the World Cup event through the repechage.
