Chilean Pablo Quintanilla proclaims himself king of the desert

Chilean Pablo Quintanilla (Husqvarna) has been proclaimed champion of the first round of the 2018 Off-Road World Championship, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, ahead of Englishman Sam Sunderland (KTM) and Argentine Kevin Benavides (Honda).
Quintanilla, who last year finished in second place behind Sunderland, pulled out his thorn and was able to manage in the last stage, disputed this Thursday, the advantage obtained previously, which allowed him not to risk and ensure the final victory.
Austrian Matthias Walkner (KTM) was the winner, with Benavides just 5 hundredths of a second away. Quintanilla entered 1 minute and 25 seconds behind the winner and took more than five minutes overall from Sunderland.
In cars, the winner was the Czech Martin Prokop (Ford F-150 Evo) who clearly beat the Polish Jakub Przygonski (Mini). The rest of the participants, including Spaniards José Luis Peña (Polaris RZR1000) and Santi Navarro (Yamaha YXZ 1000R) were far behind.
