Thirty people were injured in Münster, west Germany, in clashes between fans of the local club and Rot-Weiss Essen, following a regional league match (fourth division), police said, quoted by German sports agency SID on Wednesday.
Two people had to go to the emergency room, four were hospitalized and 24 were treated at the scene by the emergency services, said the same source.
“After the final whistle, violent Essen fans attacked 120 home team fans in the north stand,” police said.
According to the local press, the assailants responded to “provocations”.
The battle started in the stadium and continued outside. The police had to intervene to separate the combatants. AFP (HN)
