Conmebol asks to reschedule duel between Argentina and Brazil

The president of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, wants the match between Brazil and Argentina to be played for the South American qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which was suspended. FIFA has yet to decide what to do with the match.

The duel on September 5 in Sao Paulo was stopped after seven minutes, after the Brazilian health authorities entered the field to remove the four Argentine footballers who did not respect the coronavirus protocols. Because they came from Great Britain, they should have been quarantined.

“We believe that matches should be defined on the field,” Domínguez commented during an interview on radio station 970 AM. He added that the fate of the meeting is not up to his body.
