Next Friday, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) will award the Costa Rican Yokasta Valle as the best boxer of 2021, an award that the athlete takes with happiness and as a recognition of her sacrifice.
“I am very happy to see that in the end all sacrifice has been worth it and now I will have the opportunity to see it reflected, it has been so many years, so many tears and so much sweat that the truth is that I am only happy and grateful to receive this world award”, The IBF champion at 105 pounds said in a statement on Monday.
The award ceremony will take place next Friday in California, United States, within the framework of the IBF annual convention, where the Costa Rican, who has successfully defended the title on 3 occasions, will receive a ring in recognition.
«This award is for all of Costa Rica, so that the world knows that in our country there is the quality to be the best in the world in any sport, if not that athletes like Keylor Navas (soccer), Kenneth Tencio (BMX Freestyle) or Sherman Guity (athletics), and I promise to try even harder to keep raising our flag high,” Valle said.
Valle added that being the best of the year gives her “an indescribable feeling,” since it is “a spectacular and historic award for Costa Rican boxing.”
The Costa Rican boxer is training in the United States with a view to the title unification fight, scheduled for June 24 in California, against the Vietnamese Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen, champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
Valle has a record of 23 wins (8 by KO) and 2 losses, he has not fallen since June 2018 and has accumulated 10 wins in a row. EFE
