Crawford retains his titles by easily beating Diaz
The American fighter Terence Crawford, light welterweight champion of the World Association of Boxing (WBA) and the World Organization (WBO), defeated his challenger, the Dominican Félix Díaz, in the tenth round and retained his two crowns, in the fight played at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Crawford, 31-0 with 22 knockouts, maintained his undefeated status and overly punished the Dominican, who saw his record drop to 19-2 with nine knockouts.
Diaz’s team decided to stop the fight at the end of the tenth round as the Dominican had both eyes practically closed from so much punishment he received from Crawford’s fists.
Díaz already began to have problems due to the inflammation of the right eye in the second round and in the eighth he only tried to take refuge on the ropes and did not attack. Crawford scoffed throughout his opponent’s bout, although the referee did not condemn his conduct.
At the beginning of the 10th episode, the doctor examined Diaz’s right eye and allowed the fight to continue. When that assault ended, Díaz’s team decided to conclude the fight.
