Cuban sports delegation intercepted in Bogotá with 25 stolen cell phones
The Colombian Police reported today that they intercepted a delegation of nine Cuban athletes at the El Dorado airport in Bogotá carrying 25 phones that had been reported stolen.
The Cuban delegation was in Bogotá, where it was making a stopover after traveling from Cali and, before returning, the airport authorities located the 25 teams, the operational commander of the El Dorado Police, Lieutenant Colonel Yorguin Malagón, told reporters.
The delegation consisted of athletes competing in various sports such as boxing, softball or wrestling, added the high official.
Of the nine citizens, three were released from the process, four are on probation and two were taken to home detention.
Currently, the authorities are investigating where they bought the stolen cell phones, as well as who told them to go to that establishment.
The detainees were charged with the crime of reception, which involves “carrying items that have been denounced as stolen,” added Lieutenant Colonel Malagón. EFE
