Curry breaks record with 62 points; Warriors beat Blazers

Stephen Curry had a career-high 62 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 137-122 on Sunday night to split honors in the two-game series.

Curry fired a shot from range and under pressure with just over a minute to go to round out his point tally.

This season, no NBA player had scored that many units in one game. Curry was 18-of-31 shots, including eight of 16 3-pointers, after scoring 21 points in the first quarter.

For the tenth time in his career, he reached thirty points in the first two quarters as the Warriors went into halftime with a 66-54 lead.

There was only one small blemish on Curry’s terrific night. He saw his streak of free throws made to 80, another franchise record, cut in the first quarter.

That run went back to March 29, 2019, in a match against Memphis. Against Portland, he made 18 of 19 attempts.

Damian Lillard had 32 points for the Blazers, while CJ McCollum added 28. AP (HN).
