David Ortiz’s wife reported that the former player is well and has left the intensive care unit where he was.
Through a statement issued by the Red Sox, Tiffany Ortiz explained that the retired batter remains in a Boston hospital, almost two weeks after being shot in the back, when he was in a nightclub in his native Dominican Republic.
The following day, Ortiz was airlifted from Santo Domingo to Boston, where he continued his treatment.
Dominican authorities maintain that Ortiz was attacked by a subject who mistook him for another person. A member of organized crime allegedly hired the hit man to kill the owner of a car repair shop, who was with Ortiz at the time of the attack. AP
