De Ligt, third positive for covid-19 of the week at Juventus

Juventus Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt tested positive for the new coronavirus and became the third infected Turin player this week after Brazilian Alex Sandro and Colombian Juan Cuadrado, the reigning Italian champion announced.

“The player is already in isolation,” Juventus, currently fourth in Serie A, said in a statement, which will host Sassuolo (5th) on Sunday on matchday 17 of the Italian championship.

This new loss, after Alex Sandro (announced on Monday) and Juan Cuadrado (announced on Tuesday), will force coach Andrea Pirlo to review his defensive line.

The ‘Vecchia Signora’ calendar is particularly loaded, with a match against Inter Milan on January 17 and the Italian Super Cup against Naples on January 20.
