Desafío Ruta 40 Norte, the race “most similar to the Dakar”, arrives in Argentina

The Desafío Ruta 40 Norte, fourth round of the FIM Cross Countries Rally World Championship and the FIA ​​Codasur Championship, was presented today in Buenos Aires and the Argentine pilot Juan Manuel ‘el Pato’ Silva said that this race is the «most similar to the Dakar ».

The Desafío Ruta 40 Norte, which will run from August 26 to 31, begins in the province of San Juan, passes through La Rioja and Catamarca and ends in Tucumán.

It comprises 1,385 kilometers of free speed and 871 kilometers of connection, divided into five stages.

The Secretary of Tourism of Catamarca, Natalia Ponferrada; the undersecretary of Tourism Promotion of the Ministry of Tourism, Fernando García Soria; the organizer of the race, David Eli, the Undersecretary of Federated Sports, Alberto Naveda; and the motorist Silva presented the Desafío Ruta 40.

«This is the ninth edition of Desafío Ruta 40 and it will undoubtedly be the most international of all. There are participants of 17 nationalities present in the registered list, it is a race that is going to mark a milestone, “said Eli at a press conference.

‘El Pato’ said that he is going to compete alone, without a co-pilot or navigator, and that this “generates a lot of emotion” because it reminds him of his beginnings in motorsport.

García Soria said that these competitions bring “many opportunities” for tourism.

«It will take place in one of the most beautiful and emblematic landscapes that our country has. The competition is not only the passing of the cars but also the opportunity that each of these locations has to show itself to the world, “he said.

The activity will officially begin this Saturday in the city of San Juan with the prologue.
