Djokovic achieves his fifth title in Dubai and remains undefeated in 2020

World number one Novak Djokovic beat Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4, sixth in the ATP rankings, to win the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai, the 79th title of his professional career, and remains undefeated in what It’s 2020.

This is the 32-year-old Serbian’s fifth title in this tournament, after those achieved in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.

So far this year he has chained 18 victories in as many games, in a path so far perfect, which includes above all the title at the Australian Open.

Tsitsipas (21 years old), winner of the Marseille Tournament last weekend, falls in the final in Dubai for the second consecutive year, after losing in the 2019 final against the Swiss Roger Federer by a double 6-4.

In the final this Saturday, the Hellenic player was the first to be dangerous with his rival’s service, obtaining a ‘break’ ball with 2-2, but the Serbian resisted the pressure.

With 4-3 in his favor, ‘Nole’ managed to break Tsitsipas’ serve and flew shortly after to win the first set, which he signed in 39 minutes.

In the second set, Djokovic got a break at 2-2, although Tsitsipas returned the break right after. At 4-4, the Belgrade tennis player once again broke his opponent’s serve and this time it was definitive, to get the final 6-4 moments later.

Tsitsipas, one of the flagships of the ‘NextGen’ of men’s tennis, was contesting his eleventh final on the ATP circuit, where he has accumulated five titles.
