Dodgers confirm Kenley Jansen as their closer in 2021

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially began their Spring Training and one thing has already been confirmed: Kenley Jansen will be the team’s closer at the start of the 2021 Season.

The team’s manager, Dave Roberts, participated in a virtual conference and it was there that he made it official that the pitcher has earned the opportunity to be the closer.

“I think we are in the best possible position if Kenley closes the games for us,” explained Roberts.

“Even so, we know that we have several viable options to close the meetings. Jansen will again have a chance to be the closer after he struggled with his ERA last year, specifically in the postseason, where the team used five different pitchers in save situation, including Jansen himself, who had a 5.41 of PCL after having a 3.33 in the regular season. “Kenley had a good year in 2020. He led the MLB in low-power hits,” continued Roberts.

“I think he didn’t pitch in the best way in the playoffs, but this is a new year and I’m hoping he has a great year.”

In case Jansen doesn’t qualify to be the team’s closer, the Dodgers have Brusdal Graterol, Blake Treinen and Corey Knebel (who was one of the best closers of 2017-2018 but underwent Tommy John surgery) . (GG) (Seventh Inning)
