Durant will miss at least the Warriors’ first game against the Blazers

Star forward Kevin Durant will miss at least the first game of the NBA Western Conference Finals, where his Golden State Warriors will look to get ahead at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Durant suffered a mild right calf strain in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets and will not be able to play the first game against the Blazers on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

“Kevin Durant is out at least the first WCF game. He will not be evaluated again until Thursday so it is “unlikely” that he will play the second one either, “explained the prestigious journalist from the television network Ramona Shelburne on her Twitter account.

The forward’s injury occurred late in the third quarter after shooting to the basket. Durant did not appear to make contact with defender Iman Shumpert, but after falling, he took a few steps and then touched his right leg.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder limped to the Warriors bench and, after a few moments, headed straight for the locker room in the company of team doctors and general manager Bob Myers.

At first it was feared that Durant had suffered a serious injury to the Achilles tendon, but this was ruled out after the game.

The Warriors have already sentenced the last tie against Houston at the hands of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and, now, they will have to trust their Splash Brothers again for the beginning of their tie against Portland. AFP
