Federer and Schwartzman in the semifinals in Istanbul

The Argentine Diego Schwartzman advanced at the Istanbul Open to his first semifinals on the ATP tour, where he will run into none other than Roger Federer.

Schwartzman, seeded eighth, eliminated Colombian Santiago Giraldo, seed fourth, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2, and his prize was a duel with the Swiss legend and top seed that he defeated 7-6 (3), 6- 7 (5), 6-3 to the Spanish Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

Federer is seeking his 85th career title and third this year, while Schwartzman, 22, ranked 63rd in the world, has never reached a semi-final on the ATP tour.

Schwartzman won just seven points in the first set of his match against Giraldo, and trailed 2-0 in the second before coming back.
