Federer: “My goal is to win the title”

Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, second seeded at the Wimbledon tournament, said today in the British capital that his goal this year is “to win the title.”

“I have been playing very well the last year. The last few weeks have been the best preparation I’ve ever had before Wimbledon. Having one more week and having won the tournament in Halle has given me more confidence; I hope it will help me win the title here,” Federer said.

The Swiss, seven-time winner at the All England Club (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2012), will face Bosnian Damir Dzumhur in the first round of the London tournament.

“The extra week of preparation has changed everything. Many may think that seven more days is not that much, but for tennis players it is a lot. Perhaps the body feels that week after Wimbledon, but the good thing is that it helps us to rest and recover after the Roland Garros tournament, “explained Federer.

The Swiss tennis player, winner of 17 ‘big’, hopes to recover from the lost final last year, in which he fell to Serbian Novak Djokovic (6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7 and 6- 4).

«I don’t think that the fact of losing the final last year will influence my participation in this course. What it shows is that last year I didn’t play my best tennis and I reached the final,” Fededer stressed in the press room at the All England Club.

«This course I feel that I have improved my game and that I have gotten used to the racket; I think I can win Wimbledon, “concluded the Swiss. EFE
