Federer resigns to play in Rome quarterfinals

Roger Federer, injured in the right leg, had to give up playing his quarter-final match of the Masters 1000 Tournament in Rome, which was to oppose him to Giego Stefanos Tsitsipas, announced the ATP.

“I am not 100% in the physical plane and after talking with my team, we decided not to play,” said the Swiss, according to a message communicated by the ATP.

“I am disappointed that I could not play today. Rome has always been one of my favorite cities and I hope to return next year, ”added the former world number one.

Federer had belatedly announced his presence at the Rome tournament last week, where he had not participated since 2016.
