Federer will debut with Nieminen

The first seed and number two in the world, the Swiss Roger Federer, will debut in the round of 16 of the Istanbul tennis tournament, on the ATP circuit and endowed with 439,405 euros in prizes, against the Finn Jarkko Nieminen, who won this Tuesday the Turkish Marsel Ilhan by 6-3 and 6-4.

This Tuesday, the Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin, sixth favorite and who beat his compatriot Aleksandr Nedovyesov 6-3 and 6-4, made it to the round of 16; and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman, eighth and who beat the Slovenian Blaz Kavcic 6-2 and 6-1.

Kuskushkin will play in the eighth against the Spanish Daniel Gimeno Traver, who beat the Turkish Cem Ilkel 6-1 and 6-4 on Tuesday.

Schwartzman’s next rival will be the Austrian Jurgen Melzer, executioner of the Belgian Steve Darcis by 5-2 and abandonment after only 26 minutes on the Istanbul dirt track.
