The American Floyd Mayweather Jr. was recognized as the fighter of the month for his triumph over the Filipino Manny Pacquiao, on May 2, the World Boxing Council (WBC) reported today.
Mayweather Jr. defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision after 12 rounds, in a bout in Las Vegas, to defend his WBC welterweight and super welterweight belts and leave his record at 48-0, with 26 before the limit.
In its rankings for the month of May, the organization, based in Mexico, awarded the honorable mention to Japanese Takashi Miura, who defended the super featherweight title against Australian Billy Dib, by technical knockout in three rounds, on May 1 in Tokyo Japan.
