Former champion Jermain Taylor arrested for shooting his cousin

Jermain Taylor, a former world middleweight champion, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and battery, as part of an incident in which a cousin of the boxer was shot and wounded at Taylor’s home in Little Rock, authorities said.
“Mr. Taylor was arrested for domestic violence and first degree felony assault,” Lt. Carl Minden of the Pulaski County, Arkansas Police Office said Tuesday. “His cousin and someone else came to his house, an altercation broke out, and he (Taylor) grabbed a gun and fired.”
The cousin was hospitalized in serious condition with an apparent gunshot, and the other man, described as a friend of the cousin, was not injured, Minden said. The two drove out of the home and were found in a store several blocks away, Minden said. A woman, believed to be Taylor’s wife, called 911 shortly before 6 p.m. to report an intruder and a shooting at the home.
A judge set $ 25,000 bail on Taylor and allowed him to leave the state for a fight.
Taylor was a world heavyweight champion from 2005 to 2007, when he lost the title to Kelly Pavlik.
