In order to reinforce the depth of their defense in the outfield, the Mets acquired from the Giants outfielder Billy Hamilton for right-hander Jordan Humphreys.
The 29-year-old Hamilton was in San Francisco’s 60-man group but did not make the active roster. Now New York has another outfielder behind Brandon Nimmo and Jack Mariscnick, the latter being on the disabled list.
With the Royals and Braves in 2019, Hamilton hit .218 in 119 games. In a seven-year major league career, mostly with the Reds, he has stolen 299 bases.
Humprheys, the Mets’ 14th prospect, missed more than a full season after Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old right-hander looked good in the Arizona Fall League in 2019, but a packed roster from the Mets prompted the team to designate him for assignment. (GG) (Taken from MLB in Spanish)
