Formula 1 maintains classification format

During the first race of the new Formula 1 season, that is, in the Australian Grand Prix, a new format of successive eliminations was established, where drivers are eliminated every minute and a half, although both fans and the drivers themselves. single-seaters, showed their dissatisfaction with these new rules.
In fact, fans began to leave their places with more than three minutes left in Q3 and there were no more cars on the track, however the Formula 1 Strategic Group relies on this new format and announced that these rules will remain for the next weekend during the Bahrain Grand Prix. In this regard, Bernie Ecclestone Director of Formula 1 commented:
“They will do what I proposed, leave things as they are for this race (Bahrain).” After (from Bahrain) we are going to look closely and decide what is right, what is wrong, if it needs to be modified, if it needs to be improved. This is an idea from the FIA in the first place, so I told them that we would give them our full support. Nobody knows what is the right thing to do, so we’ll see after this race. “
So with all and complaints, Formula 1 will maintain this format, despite the fact that even moments before starting the Australian Grand Prix, the team leaders tried to convince the race director to return to the previous format for the next race, but the Strategic Group rejected this idea.
