Frampton beats Quigg on points and unifies IBF and WBA crowns

The undefeated Northern Irishman Carl Frampton managed to unify the crown of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Association (WBA) of super bantamweight by winning the hitherto also invincible British Scott Quigg by points, in a split decision, in the fight held at the Manchester Arena, in said British city.
Frampton’s triumph was forged in the first rounds, as he was much more effective than his rival, who when he wanted to react no longer had the opportunity to reverse the situation.
The Northern Irishman won the victory thanks to the score of the British judge Dave Parris and the American Carlos Sucre, as both saw him as the winner (116-112). The other judge, the American Levi Martinez, considered that the victory had been Quigg, by 115-113.
Although Frampton forged his work in the first half of the fight, it was Quigg, who, warned by his corner of equality in the scores, cast the rest, especially from the tenth inning. In this round, both fighters exchanged blows relentlessly and the same happened in the next two.
Perhaps Quigg was more precise than his rival in that phase, but the final blow did not come and the balance tipped over to the Northern Irishman.
After this fight, the record of Frampton, 29 years old, remains with 22 victories (14 of them by ko), while Quigg, 27 years old, has in his service record 31 wins (23 of them before the limit), a defeat, today, and two void. EFE
