The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza will not play the quarterfinals of the Hobart tennis tournament against the Russian Veronika Kudermétova, due to a viral process that forces her to withdraw from the tournament that takes place in the Australian city.
As reported by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Muguruza, who beat Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur in three sets 6-3, 3-6 and 6-7 in the round of 16, retires from the tournament after several days in which has suffered from fever and where it reached 39 degrees of temperature.
Garbiñe withdraws from the tournament with the intention of being prepared for the Australian Open that begins next Monday and which will be the first Grand Slam of the year, so she will rest this Thursday at the hotel to head to Melbourne on Friday and start the training.
For her part, Veronika Kudermétova, who beat the American Catherine Bellis in straight sets 7-6 and 6-1 in the round of 16, will face the Chinese Zhang Shuai in the Hobart semifinals. EFE
