The Argentine Giovanni Simeone, forward of Hellas Verona, signed the first goal-scoring poker of his career in Serie A, when he sank Lazio 4-1 at the Bentegodi stadium in Vernes.
El Cholito, son of Atlético Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone, reached six goals this league season with a monumental performance, in which he scored from within the area, with a right hand from 18 meters that entered through a squad and from head.
The Argentine forward, born in Buenos Aires 26 years ago, led Verona by the hand to a victory of great importance to forget the 2-3 suffered last week against Milan, when his team wasted a 2-0 in favor.
He punished a Maurizio Sarri team again, because, before the poker at Lazio this Sunday, he had scored three against Napoli, then trained by the Neapolitan coach.
In the Bentegodi, Cholito broke the equality half an hour into the game by beating the Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina with an accurate shot with his right foot after a pass into the hole by Gianluca Caprari, and extended the gap in the 36th minute, with a tremendous right hand from outside the area.
Already in the resumption, after the momentary 1-2 of Ciro Immobile, he definitively sank Lazio with another goal of “nine”, finishing off a perfect assist from Caprari, and put the icing on his unforgettable afternoon with the header of the final 4- one.
Verona was placed eleventh in the table, with eleven points, three behind Lazio, eighth. AFP (HN)
