Golovkin-Canelo is the fight of experience against youth, says Sulaimán

The fight between the Kazakh Gennady Golovkin and the Mexican Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, on September 16 in Las Vegas, will confront the experience with the youth, said today the president of the World Council of Boxing (CMB), Mauricio Sulaimán.

Golovkin, 35, will arrive undefeated with 37 wins, 33 before the limit, and Alvarez, 27, will appear with 49 wins, 34 on the fast track, a win and a draw.

It’s a very even fight. Experience is found against youth, strength against speed, and both always arrive very well prepared for fights, ”Sulaiman said today.

“Hopefully the styles mesh together for a great fight. There is great interest around the world for this fight and it will be historic, “he added.

The leader recalled that Golovkin will come out as the Council’s middleweight champion and the winner will be recognized as “the best boxer of the moment” in the world of boxing and will raise that title in addition to a commemorative belt with Huichol art that is given in a special way and that was presented today.

In the May 5 fight against his compatriot Julio César Chávez Jr., ‘Canelo’ rejected the commemorative belt and, if he wins, he could follow the same path since he does not want to know anything about the WBC that ignored him as a champion and gave him his title to Golovkin a year ago.

Sulaiman anticipated “a spectacular fight, with great interest and expectation.” EFE
