Grandal equaled Ruth with curious statistics

How could anyone hit a Babe Ruth record after hitting .000?

That’s exactly what Cuban White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal accomplished on Saturday when he hit 3-0 with 13 walks traded in four games. With the curious statistic, Grandal joined Ruth (1930) as the only players in American League history to trade at least 13 walks in a four-game stretch.

If you include the National League, only one player would join – Bryce Harper, who did it in 2016.

Altogether, Grandal goes through a rare campaign at the plate. After trading four walks and hitting a sacrifice fly Saturday against the Royals, he runs a .121 / .388 / .259 offensive line with seven hits and 26 walks in his first 21 games of 2021.
