Pep Guardiola became Manchester City’s most successful coach in history (221) after beating Chelsea 1-0 in the Premier League.
The Spanish manager ties off with legendary Sky Blues manager Les McDowall, who led 220 Manchester City wins between 1950 and 1963.
Guardiola has only needed 303 games to reach 221 wins, while McDowall was in charge of City for 592 games.
“I cannot deny that it would be an honor to achieve it,” said the Spanish coach in the pre-game when asked about the possibility of breaking McDowall’s record.
Guardiola joins this record to what he already had for being the coach with the most titles in the history of Manchester City, with eight to date. This is double that of Joe Mercer and seven more than that of McDowall, who won an FA Cup. EFE (HN)
