Hamilton dominates German GP trials

The English Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was the best in the first free practice for the German Grand Prix -the tenth round of the Formula One World Championship-, ahead of his German teammate Nico Rosberg, on a day in which the Spanish Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) was ninth.

In the second session of the day, Hamilton covered – in the best of his 38 laps – the 4,574 meters of the Hockenheim circuit in one minute, 18 seconds and 341 thousandths, 24 less than Rosberg – world leader, with 165 points, four more than him-, who had been the best in the morning rehearsal and with whom he exchanged positions in the afternoon, in which the best times were set.
Alonso, winner the last two times he raced on this track (2010 and 2012), was ninth in a session in which his Finnish teammate Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth, just over half a second behind Hamilton and just behind Australian Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), who finished third, one tenth behind English.
The Mexican Sergio Pérez (Force India) was thirteenth, after marking, in the best of his 28 laps, a time of one minute, 19 seconds and 581 thousandths, in a session in which the main incident was carried out by the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, that burned the engine of his Caterham, over which the contents of numerous fire extinguishers had to be poured before suffocating it.The Asturian double world champion, third in the first training session, spun 32 times in the second, in which he set, in his best lap, the ninth time, one minute, nineteen seconds and 329 thousandths, almost one second behind Hamilton. .
In the second training session, as usual, the settings were tested and, fundamentally, the behavior of the tires, of soft compounds, with which the first forty minutes were rolled, and supersoft, which began to be put in the absence of fifty for the final, with which the best times were achieved.
The Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado (Lotus), who repeated the track 35 times, achieved his best time in one minute, 20 seconds and 158 thousandths, the sixteenth in the timesheets, two places ahead of the Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez (Sauber), who in the best of his forty laps he spun in 1: 20.504.
Tomorrow the rehearsals will resume in the third and last free practice, prior to qualifying, which will order the starting grid for Sunday’s race, scheduled for 67 laps, to complete a route of 306.4 kilometers.
