Hamilton dominates rehearsals at the US Grand Prix

Briton Lewis Hamilton, from the Mercedes team, set the best time in the first free practice session of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, this Friday at the Las Americas circuit in Austin, Texas.

Hamilton posted a best time of 1: 36.335, leading by 0.593 seconds over his title rival, German Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

The Briton leads the drivers’ standings 59 points ahead of Vettel with four races to go.

If the Mercedes man wins on Sunday and Vettel does not finish in the top five, he will be proclaimed world champion for the fourth time. The figures do not include solidarity payments for clubs that participated in qualifying rounds or solidarity payments made to national leagues for grassroots development projects for national clubs.
